Dec has developed economical solutions for dust-free and airtight unloading of bins without the use of gravity unloading. The bin does not need to be raised above the loadable equipment. It can be emptied using the PTS Powder Transfer System®, which mounts directly to the equipment being filled such as a compactor, granulator or tablet press, eliminating the need for a second floor or bin lifting column. With its low conveying speed and dense phase operation, PTS ensures that there is no powder segregation or powder abrasion during transfer, eliminating the risk of product separation normally associated with loading chutes. Multiple pieces of equipment can be filled with a single unloading station, reducing the overall footprint and investment. Dec offers different designs depending on the level of containment. The bin will be mounted on a dump frame equipped with a docking system ranging from a simple gasket for low sealing to a split valve system for full sealing.
Dosing is a common practice in the pharmaceutical industry where active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and powder excipients must be precisely dosed into IBCs (bins). Often these activities are still performed openly inside a laminar flow cabin, causing problems for the operator due to difficult manual handling, exposure to dust and high risks of cross contamination. Dec's safe bin filling solution typically includes a PTS Powder Transfer System® mounted on the container being filled, avoiding gravity loading and the need for a second floor, work platform or drum hoist/tilt column. The PTS can be equipped with an optional breathing filter, allowing the IBC to release pressure during filling without polluting the environment and exhaust system. Thanks to this solution, the IBC (bin) does not require additional attachments that can be installed on the floor scales for final weight control.
