Launch of the Tablet and Capsule Bottling Section at GROTEKS LLC
In 2022, GROTEKS LLC, also known under the SOLOPHARM trademark, planned the release of new pharmaceutical products. This required equipping the primary packaging area with a bottling line for tablets and capsules.
The challenge of expanding production capacity had to be addressed within the constraints of the existing space, which guided the X-Tech team in selecting the appropriate equipment and technology.
Automated Bottling Line
To package tablets and capsules into glass and plastic bottles of various formats, a line manufactured by the South Korean company Countec was launched. Operating at a speed of 6,000 bottles per hour, the line performs the following tasks sequentially:
- Orientation and cleaning of bottles
- Counting and bottling of tablets
- Capping bottles with lids
- Labeling
The compact design of the line was achieved through the choice of a rounded layout, minimizing the floor space required. To handle bottles and caps of various types and sizes, interchangeable parts are only required for the capping machine. All other units in the line are adjustable, simplifying the format change process.
Counting and Inspection of Tablets with Vision Systems
Maintaining product quality is a top priority in production. During bottling, every tablet or capsule is checked for integrity and the absence of foreign inclusions by special vision cameras installed on two VIC-55 machines operating in parallel.
The vision system performs two critical functions:
- Counting tablets or capsules moving along vibratory trays
- Visual inspection of the product using trainable algorithms
Defective tablets or capsules are individually rejected into a separate collector.
The rapid deployment of the new line enabled the company to quickly bring new products to market. Initial tests have already demonstrated the high efficiency of counting and inspecting the packaged products, ensuring quality assurance for end consumers.
