Expedition "Maresiev trail"
April 3 - 4, 2018, an expedition consisting of members of the Novgorod search team "Nakhodka" and the All-Russia "Leaders' Club" repeated the walking route of Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Maresyev.
Plane of the pilot A. Maresiev was shot down on April 5, 1942 in the area of the «Demyansk pocket» and was seriously wounded in both legs. His plane fell on the territory occupied by the Germans, but he was able to cross the front line to his fellow troops. A. Maresiev crawled for 18 days without food, with heavy wounds to the place where he was found by local residents.
12 Members of the expedition chose clothes as much as possible similar to material and cutting out to those, which Soviet pilots wore during the War. Naturally, the clothes were soaked through, it had to be dried during a night rest on the bonfires.
They did not take food on the route, only a small amount of water. In total, they passed 20 kilometers, significant part of which were in swamps. They walked, falling down waist-deep in the snow, slept on fir twigs.
At night they could not fall asleep because of the frost and how of wolves that gathered around the camp. Particularly difficult was the last section of the route, which allowed everyone to realize what kind of willpower Alexey Maresiev had, which allowed him to overcome this difficult path.
Late in the evening the expedition conducted a radio communication session with the International Space Station; before that, the Leaders Club had already held three such sessions with the ISS - during the expeditions to Mont Blanc, Elbrus and Belukha.
Members of the Leaders' Club and representatives of the X-Tech company Maxim Khanzhin and Alexei Martynov participated in the expedition.
